MS isn't curable and makes the patients disable. It affects the patients' and their families' lives and disturbs their life styles in different ways. There are highly variable and unpredictable changes in MS course and it is one of the most life-altering diseases. It strikes in the prime of life and makes frequent incurable progressive disabilities. Because MS is such a complex, multifaceted disorder, nurses who care for people with MS are faced with numerous clinical changes. Therefore, well-informed nurses can evaluate and explain the disease process and help the patients to improve the quality of life of patients with MS. Methods: The qualitative phenomenological research was employed. There were participants chosen amongst the patients referred to Isfahan Multiple Sclerosis Society. The sampling method was purposeful and continued until data saturation. A total of 14 participants were chosen in the end. The data were collected by in-depth interviews and data analysis was done by Colaizzi method. Results: The findings of this study showed four core concepts expressing participants' experiences including physical experiences of the disease, spiritual experiences of the disease, psychological experiences of the disease and social experiences of the disease. Conclusion: Patients with MS experience psycho-spiritual, social and physical problems in their lives. Nurses' appropriate understanding of these problems can make a suitable rehabilitation plan for the patients and their families. It has been one of the main concerns of human in his life so that he has always tried to manage it appropriately. Knowledge on pain and its management are among the key responsibilities of health care staffs. They should screen patients, evaluate their pain and treat them appropriately. This study tried to define patients' viewpoints concerning the assessment and management of pain. Methods: This was a descriptive study. There were 100 subjects selected through convenient sampling in Isfahan Medical University hospitals. The data were collected by a questionnaire and analyzed through SPSS software. Results: The findings showed that 92% of the patients were in pain after surgery, 81% needed pain killers to relieve their pains of whom, 80% had their pain relieved. The findings also demonstrated that 85% of the patients were satisfied with their given services concerning pain management. Meanwhile, 15% were dissatisfied with the services. Conclusion: Although, based on the findings of the research, post-surgical pain was managed and relieved properly, it was not assessed and evaluated well after management.http://ijnmr.mui.ac.ir/index.php/ijnmr/article/view/118

Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research1735-906611220100210Effect of Vitagnus and Passi-pay on hot flash of menopause in women referred to health centers of Isfahan, 2002119119Ms of Midwifery(Maternal and child health), School of Nursing and Midwifery, Isfahan university of Medical Sciences, Isfahan20101113  Introduction: Menopause is a period of life of women accompanied with changes and symptoms such as hot flash that affects women's work, social activities, sleep and quality of life. The common treatment of this symptom is hormone replacement therapy that has some adverse effects as well as complications. In this research, effects of two herbs, Vitex agnus castus and Passion flower, on hot flash were assessed. Methods: This clinical trial was performed on 81 women aged 45-55 years, with hot flash referred for treatment. The subjects were randomly divided into three groups. Group one included those taking Vitagnus. Group 2 received Passi-pay and finally, control group took placebo. The women were interviewed and a questionnaire, which included demographic and hot flash characteristics (using Kupperman Index) was filled for each subject. Hot flash was assessed 24 hours before and 15-30 days after treatment. Results: The findings showed a significant difference in the severity of hot flash, 30 days after treatment (P=0.04). There was a significant difference between placebo and Vitagnus groups (P=0.04). Also, there was a significant difference between placebo and Passi-pay groups (P=0.02). Conclusion: Vitagnus and Passi-pay are effective in treatment of hot flash.http://ijnmr.mui.ac.ir/index.php/ijnmr/article/view/119

Contraception method selection is personally unique and can bridge between their experiences and their unmet needs. The aim of this study was to determine contraception in the first few years of marriage. Methods: This was a qualitative phenomenological study. The population studied was composed of young women in their first few years of marriage (before their first delivery). The data were collected with in-depth and unstructured interviews and analyzed by Colaizzi method. Results: The findings of the research were classified in 75 codes and four categories as following: impedimental factors, motivating factors, exchanging factors, abandon factors. Conclusion: Young women mentioned positive and negative experiences in their first few years of marriage. Scientific exercise changes peoples' personality to positive. Paying attention to the importance of women's participation in sport activities guided us to study some factors affecting the participation of female students in physical education class 2 (table tennis). Methods: This study was a descriptive and analytic research conducted on 110 subjects. The subjects were selected from all female students of different courses of Islamic Azad University of Khorasgan. The samples were all students who had registered for general physical education class 2 (table tennis) in educational year of 2003-2004. The data were collected by a questionnaire containing 40 questions. Variables were motivation, interest, theoretical and practical knowledge, teaching method, management and planning, equipment and facilities, menstrual period and students' participation. The data were analyzed with chi-square and correlation tests by SPSS software. Results: The findings showed that the mean age of the subjects was 22.54 years and 78.2 percent of the subjects were not married. Data analysis showed a significant association between motivation and interest of the students, theoretical and practical knowledge, teaching method, management and planning, equipment and facilities and participation of students in the class (P<0.05). Meanwhile, there was no significant association between physiological change of menstruation period and participation of students (p=0.693). Discussion: Learning will be effective, if there is students' motivation and interest. Teachers' roles, sport facilities and suitable lesson planning highly affect learning. These changes can have a lot of effects on mother's and child's health. Knowledge on experiences of women in this period yields a better understanding of their health conditions. So, it is essential to conduct a qualitative research to analyze their feelings and experiences about their bodies during pregnancy. The aim of this research was describing pregnant women's experiences about their body image. Methods: This was a qualitative phenomenological survey. The population studied was composed of pregnant women referred to Enghelab, Amirhamzeh and Navabsafavi clinics in Isfahan. The sampling was purposeful and the sample size included 12 subjects. The data were collected in 4 months by in-depth interview method. The data were analyzed by Colaizzi seven stage method. Results: The findings of research were classified in 125 codes and two categories including changes without satisfaction and changes with satisfaction. Discussion: According to the research findings, pregnant women experience various changes in the appearance of their bodies. Standard protocol along with the methods of physicians' and midwifes' intervention is clearly defined in this program. This pilot project started in Ardestan district since 2003 and will continue until the middle of 2005. This study was conducted to examine the efficacy and effectiveness of this program in terms of improving child birth and pregnancy indicators and related problems. Methods: This was a historical cohort study. Two groups of mothers who gave birth to their children after starting the program entered the study. Mothers who received the current care and those who received care based on the new program were randomly selected. A checklist was completed for each subject using health profiles and hospital records. The aim of study was to examine the birth outcomes and relevant indicators. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The results of this study showed that the frequencies of caesarian sections in the two groups were the same. The frequency of low birth weight in mothers who received new care services was lower than that in the other group. An improvement in the full-term pregnancy indicator in the first group was also observed. About one percent improvement was seen in stillbirth indicator in mothers who received new care services. Discussion: High preterm birth indicator is one of the most common problems in Iran. It includes the number of preterm and full-term births with low birth weight, which impose high costs on the families and the government. It seems that providing appropriate services using the new guidelines can be effective in improving child birth indicators specially in form of reducing the number of preterm child birth and stillbirth cases.http://ijnmr.mui.ac.ir/index.php/ijnmr/article/view/123

Nowadays, university students as manpower and spiritual resources of a nation, in addition to study, have to work part-time or full-time due to different reasons. Recent researches showed that part-time or full-time job can bring about better results among the students. Meanwhile, some may drop the education. This study was carried out to assess the roles of part-time and full-time jobs on students' grade point averages and also to investigate other possible contributing factors. Methods: This was a descriptive analytic cross-sectional study in which the whole research population was chosen as the subjects. The main group included 200 male and female students from 7 schools of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences all having the inclusion criteria. There were another 200 students as controls who were not working selected from the same school. The grade point average before starting to work was compared with the present semester grade point average. The subjects were classified into three groups of grade point average of 12-14.99, 15-16.99 and ≥17 in study and control groups. Results: The findings showed that the mean grade point averages in study and control groups had no significant difference and students' part-time and full-time job played no role in students' educational output. Discussion: Students are responsible for providing public health in different groups of medical sciences as a part of health and treatment ministry. Since students' part-time or full-time jobs played no role in their educational output except for the students with grade point average ≥17, the programs for students' counseling and reinforcing their motivation towards promotion of education quality are highly suggested.http://ijnmr.mui.ac.ir/index.php/ijnmr/article/view/124

Nowadays, there are many ways to improve refractive errors such as myopia, but since lasik is safe and it doesn't carry dangers such as darkness of cornea, it has become popular. Yet, many patients are confused or hesitant to go through the surgery because of the lack of knowledge concerning the way operation could be done, the advantages and the drawbacks as well as probable problems. For these reasons, the writer of the article was so adamant to collect some information about the quality of life after lasik surgery.
