Organization readiness on performing the participative management
Abstract
Introduction: Although participation has shown its high competence in all dimensions of life and society, in many cases, condition and position of participation have been the indicators of successful participation management. A manager, in order to perform the action of participative management, needs to study the readiness of organization and then, programs performing plans on the basis of this readiness.
Methods: This study had a triangulation (several–dimension) methodology, which was performed on the staff of nursing college in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (n=100). The method of collecting data was through a questionnaire and the analysis was done by descriptive analytic statistics.
Results: The findings of this research indicated that the readiness of all components of organization, including managers, staff and structure was in average range (neither high nor low). Also, the factors revealing the presence of readiness at this college were those with the highest scores including the positive and clear personnel policies, acceptable hierarchy relations, no intervention of upper organizations in making decisions of the manager, the importance of staff to do a perfect work, awareness of the value of work, staff's responsibility and lack of perseverance to the changes. Negative factors which prevented the participative management included lack of sufficient information sources, no participation of staff in selecting the managers, the staff's belief that the job satisfaction is not important for the managers and the health status and the needs of the staff. In addition, there was a meaningful relation between age, education, management position and background of staff and organization readiness.
Conclusions: According to the medium rate of organizational readiness at this college, it is recommended to the managers of this college to emphasize the positive points and improve the negative points that prevent the effective participative management.
