Abstract

Introduction: Males and females have 40-70% and 65-75% lower sexuality rates after MI, respectively. Unfortunately, there is no education on marital relations for MI patients and their wives after MI. This study investigated the effects of education on knowledge of MI patients and their wives regarding marital relations.

Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study. The method of data gathering was questionnaires, which included two sections; the first section covered the demographic characteristics and the second part included 18 questions to investigate the knowledge of MI patients and their wives before and after education.

Results: The results showed a significant difference (P<0/00l) between scores of knowledge before and after education.

Conclusion: The findings showed that the patients do not have enough training in self-care and in how they can fulfill their needs after MI. This leads to more frequent hospitalizations in future and further complications for them and their families. Findings showed that patients and their wives are very interested in being trained on their sexual relations after MI.
